What's In A Name? Yahusha or Jesus?

There's a wave of posts sweeping the internet these days - not new but more so in recent times.

It's about claims that 'Jesus' is not the name of the Messiah, that His true name, the name by which men can be saved, the name that is above all names, the name in which all of Elohim's (God's) promises are yay and amen, is Yahusha.

Being the Berean* that I am, this is something I'm currently studying to find out if it's true. Please post your thoughts or lessons on this VERY IMPORTANT topic here.

There's a curious verse in the book of Proverbs:

"30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His son's name, if thou canst tell?
"

Seems to be an important question.

Some thoughts/questions I've got, though, from my initial study, are as follows (in no particular order of importance: I'm writing these as they come up in my mind...):

  • The Messiah came in the flesh and was given a Hebrew name by his Father: Yahusha.
Elohim (God), is sovereign. It's not up to us to question why He chose a Hebrew name for His Son. This applies regardless of the language He chose. If He had chosen French, German or Igbo, the point would be the same - The CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE GETS TO CHOOSE. When you create your own universe you can choose what language to reveal yourself in. But until then, wisdom dictates that you play by the rules of the One who created THIS universe.

Why was the name translated/transliterated? Why was it tampered with in the first place? Even if its difficult to pronounce - which it's not - who gives you the right to tamper with another's name, let alone when that 'other' is your Maker?

EVERY TONGUE CAN SPEAK THE TRUE NAME OF THE MESSIAH. A Litmus Test.

In fact, the name Yahusha perfectly fulfils this prophecy:
"Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Yahusha the Messiah is Master, to the glory of YAHUAH the Father."

Physiologically and anatomically speaking, EVERY tongue can pronounce Yahusha.
This is NOT the case with the word 'jesus' - so right there that scripture falls flat on its face if you claim your Messiah's name is jesus. It only comes true when you use His real name - Yahusha.

Linguistically, EVERY language on Earth has a pronouncable 'Y' sound as found in Yahusha. This cannot be said of the 'J' sound in jesus.

So here again, that scripture falls flat on its face if you wish to apply it to 'jesus'.

TRUTH GETTING THROUGH TO YOU YET?

  • I mean, my name is Nkemakonam, it's an Igbo name which means 'I will not be denied what belongs to me/what is mine' and it's shortened - with my permission to 'Nkem' or 'Kem', which mean 'mine'. When I speak English to people I don't tell them my name is 'mine'. I tell them my Igbo name: Nkem/Kem.

So it begs the question: why did they think it necessary, when translating the Scriptures, to translate/transliterate the name of the Messiah, also?

I mean, it's ok to translate any of the adjectives or titles used to describe Elohim into your language eg Chineke means The Elohim who creates, in Igbo. That's not His name, that's what He is, what He does. Just as it's ok for me to call you a man or woman in any language - doesn't change your name, just translates the name for what you are.

So it's ok to translate that, just as it's ok to translate words describing me eg woman can be translated into its vernacular in different languages, but my name remains the same wherever I go. You don't change proper nouns, which names are.

Worse still, it turns out that 'Jesus' is not even a translation of His name! I'm not making this up! History records documenting the origin of the name, verify this! This info is in public domain too so do go check it out for yourself. So our Messiah's name has been totally changed to something else. It's been conjured up from all sorts of transliterations that it actually has no meaning in itself.

  • That's a bit of a worry because of the power contained in any name, especially This Name - Yahusha. Why the change? Not like it's hard to pronounce or anything, so why was it changed? This is the ONLY name that has been given by which man may be saved. Why change it to one that has not got any power to save?? Then try to explain it away ( a lot of things are 'explained away' or rationalised in christianity, have you noticed?  That's one reason why xtianity is "NOT The Way of Truth"...I choose to be like a little child and simply OBEY what the Father says - saves me the hassle of trying to explain away why I'm disobeying Him. Plus saves me from damnation!)

  • The name Yahusha includes Elohim's name 'Yah'.
Yahusha means 'YAH saves' . So really each time you say the Hebrew name of the messiah, you are reminded of this Truth, that this is the only means by which men can be saved. That powerful Truth is lost in the transliteration 'Jesus'.

  • How come Elohim has saved, healed and blessed people in the name of Jesus Christ then?

    Two possibilities:
    A) I wonder if it's that thing Elohim does when He lets His permissible will as opposed to His Perfect will, to be done eg permitting Ishmael when Isaac was His promised ideal, etc...(in His great mercy and love, without which we would no doubt all have been consumed! Thankfully, they are new every morning...) - there are other scriptural examples of this principle, where Elohim permits something to happen that's not His perfect will but still lets it work out for the good of the one who loves Him and has been called according to His purpose.

    OR...

    B) He didn't do them! The devil did them to keep people focused on jesus and away from Yahusha, the Light of the world. Throughout the 'New Testament', 'signs and wonders' are used by the false prophet to deceive many...which will culminate in the 'Man of Lawlessness' doing the same thing - he will be so good at it that if possible, the very elect would be deceived.

Remember what He says in Matthew 7:

"21 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?
  • 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Remember, the judgement upon the world is that people chose darkness rather than light. So satan's priority is to keep people in darkness. And if it take signs and wonders to do it, he'll use signs and wonders to keep you in the dark.

    John 3:
"18 He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of Elohim.
19 And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil"

Read the entire chapter in context and you will see that 'the light' which men have rejected, is the light of the revelation of His true name!

People quote John 3:16 all the time but fail to acknowledge John 3:18 - if you do not believe on THE NAME of the only begotten Son of Elohim, you shall perish, you shall be judged!!

His words, not mine - so don't shoot the messenger, ok?
However the days of Elohim permitting this ignorance re the name of the Messiah, are either numbered, or are over.

    30
And the times of this ignorance Elohim winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."

    - that's from Acts 17. Study the verses before vs 30 and you will discover some startling similarities between today's believers and the people Paul was addressing that day. Read this article on 'REPENT! As We Are Now Commanded To Do' for more.

And it's interesting to note the response of his listeners: "some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. 34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed"
What is YOUR response to this matter so far? Are you a 1, 2 or 3, where :
1= I Mock all this talk, find it all a nonsense.
2= I need more information 'will hear more of this matter'
3= I believe - what should I do now and how does that play out in my practical walk with the Messiah?

I continue studying and will update you on what I find.

However don't wait for me to post up some information on here before you find out what's what. I encourage you to take up your Bible and begin studying it for yourself also. Use Scripture and online research resources also to verify whatever I or anyone else, has said, to make sure it's true. Be Berean*.

*Here's what what said about the Berean Believers:
"11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

These guys went back (TO THE 'OLD TESTAMENT' I might add... take a hint!) to check if the things spoken by the apostle Paul were true! If it were today, as long as it's coming from Paul, most believers wouldn't bother doing personal Bible Study to confirm that his words were true, after all, Paul had a personal, live encounter with the Messiah.

But not these Bereans - Paul or no Paul, 'superstar, megachurch preacher' or not - they were counted NOBLE because they :
a) Received the Word readily in their minds AND
b) Searched the scriptures DAILY for themselves, to see if the words they'd heard were true. (Note that in the NT, the only 'Scriptures' they had to refer to and search things for, was the 'OT')

This is the way you and I ought to be with EVERYTHING we hear, no matter who's saying it.

It's called 'testing the spirit' ("Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of Elohim: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1) If you are not trying the spirits, if you are not searching scriptures DAILY for yourself, then you're vulnerable to the devil's greatest, most powerful weapon against you - LIES.

Every teaching you hear from any 'man of God' or 'man of Elohim', every message you read in the NT - MUST line up with what the NT refers to as 'Scriptures' (click on the underlined word to read more), as the Bereans example shows us.

You have been warned.

Now go do some personal study regarding what you've just read - you can't claim ignorance any longer! Besides, Elohim no longer winks at ignorance so you've got no excuse, especially in this day of rapid access to information.

This is the age of restoration, and the Father is starting from the basics to restore ALL THINGS. He's starting with the restoration of His NAME (Yahuah) and the restoration of His Son's NAME (Yahusha).

Let the one with ears to hear, hear.

As Solomon the Wise asked in Proverbs 30:

"30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His son's name, if thou canst tell?
"

Do YOU know their names?

Good question about those healed in or those who call on the name of Yahshua. I believe that Yahweh meets us where we are in our ignorance, and he knows we have need of salvation. However, we know since the word says" not all who cry Lord will enter the gates," I believe that Yah looks at our heart and sees that it is contrite, that is, sorrowful and truly repent. Repentance is the key. Are we sorry or not. Just like the woman who pressed through the crowd of Christianity and said, "If I can just touch the hem of his garment, I know I will be made whole." Yes, Amen, our deliverance is near. No, other name by which we can be saved. Yahshuah!

Very good word, thanks for sharing.

"UPDATE"

I can now categorically state, in answer to the topic of this blog post, that there is in fact EVERYTHING in a name, most especially THE Name of our Maker.

Read my more recent posts and a couple things that you'll discover, as I have, on further Scripture study, are that:

a) Denying His True Name = taking His Name in vain, = breaking the 3rd commandment of the 10.

b) Denying His True Name = Lawlessness = Sin

Then of course there is the fact that His True Name is the ONLY one by which man may be saved.

Nothing changes this fact so we'd best fall in line and respect our Maker enough to call Him what He chooses to be called.
